Flip Your Whig

Just when I was making a joke about bringing back the Whigs, I learn that they have come back. Is this just another Reform Party in disguise or could these be actually sane people who could worth taking seriously as Palin, Limbaugh, Cheney and Fox News nibble away on the rancid carcass of the Republican Party?

That was weird. It led me to the discovery of something called Oregon Commentator, which seems to be a blog for conservatives who tend more toward the moderate Republican style.

They were wistful for the days when their party would have 'run someone like this' (sic).

Rich - Odd as it sounds, Nixon would be considered a "moderate" Republican or even a socially progressive Republican by today's standards. He was a Quaker after all.

I am constantly amazed.

Mouse - I am certainly not making any endorsement of them, just sharing the news that they are out there. If Sarah Palin is back in the foreground, anything could happen.

omg - would never have thought you endorsed the new whigs!!!

I heard that palin is going to resurrect the know nothing party of the 1840s and 1850s - of course, the know nothings was preceded by the whigs and then morphed into the republicans.

but then again trying to grok palin, I would think she'd want to name her own new party - and we all do know now talented she is when it comes to naming things (people) and using language to convey what she means....

Mouse - I thought the Republicans already were the Know Nothings. I think the Bridge to Nowhere Party would be a fitting group for Palin to lead.
