Okay, yes, I know it's just a little basenji getting over being shy and checking out her new foster home. The fact that it's accompanied by my favorite song by one of my favorite girl singers and starring my favorite girl dog makes it pretty special to me.
I don't know that particular Kirsty song, but I somehow knew it was her just from the opening instrumental bits. I always get a little wistful whenever I hear her voice.
I think a pup might be what I need to pull me out of my malaise.
Joe - Despite what I had to go through Guru -- and it following so closely the death of my two cats, two parents, aunt, several friends, et.al. -- becoming a dog dad for the first time since high school has been wonderful. It reminds me that for any headache, there are a dozen more joys.
Oh, and how I love Kirsty. That's from her "Titanic Days", the title track of which I've been listening to in heavy rotation. It's the perfect soundtrack for these recent days -- Obama joy mixed with Prop 8 defeat and economic despair. She always manages to provide the perfect mix of deeply joyful and tragic sounds. It's so hard to believe she is gone and for so long. What a loss
bravo!! brilliant!! lady bow is an earth angel!! I'm so happy you found each other. I know she'll floating around your life and your home for a long, long, long time!
wonderful song - and as with joe I don't think I knew that song...
Mouse - She's still playing the angel role, but we're not even 48 hours into our fostering. Like any self-respecting basenji I know she'll show me her other side soon. But I am sure that I'll still call her the little angel.
Too cute! And, I have to tell you that my youngest thug dog was sitting in my lap while I was watching the video. Usually he goes into huffy bark mode when he sees a dog (or a cartoon bear or a moving pile of laundry) on TV, but he leaned over and gave the Bow image on my laptop the tiniest little lick.
Aunty - As you can tell, Miss Bow is likely to break quite a few canine hearts. She's just the princess of basenji land in my book. She has a profile on Dogster.com and all the basenji boys are asking her for a date. What is a dad to do!
Location: San Francisco, California, United States
JunkThief is your typical Gallic Jew boy born on the Great Plains, went to Gotham and Ouagadougou and Kathmandu before settling in San Francisco's Mission District. Now he searches the dark alleys of that city to find good conversation, Weimar culture and (but of course) the perfect door knob.

I knew that girl was ready for her closeup!

OK so THAT is adorable. It makes me miss my Lillian!
The song is great, too - and so fitting.
JDZS - Thanks. That song is a favorite and may become her theme song -- unless her inner devil suddenly comes out.
