Almost Like Autumn

Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year since I always feel it heralds change and renewal. Spring is nice, but autumn is perfect. I think the fact that you know the weather will turn colder (and in Northern California wetter) makes it a more precious time -- a metaphor for the shifting nature of life itself.

Seeing leaves like this change, just a couple of doors down from my old apartment on 22nd Street, makes me happy that this wonderful time of year is here. And it is the one time of the year that weather in San Francisco makes me think that I live in the United States.
