(Mostly) NOT in My Neighborhood
Though it's only a block and a half from my old place in the more central part of the Mission, I've never really understood what happens in this building. It reminds me of the type of faux castle architecture common in the Midwest and Southern California but rare here.
Showing enormous willpower, I've yet to buy anything here since I know they also have clothing to purchase in Europe. But I take comfort in just knowing that it's there.
Pretty in white and all ready for the holiday.
Prettier in white and ready for any occasion.

I love the oddness of the Atlas Stair Building, especially since the side and the front have nothing to do with each other. It is Mutant Architecture.
where's that handsome sculpted man. he must be new to SF or i'm blind as a bat.
I love the Atlas stair building. It was always such a welcome sight whenever I walked through the Mission - which was often since I used to live in Bernal Heights.
Every time I went to Union Square or North Beach, I would think, "Oh! I live in San Francisco!" (since that's where they film movie scenes.
Bernal and the Mission were very different than the Fisherman's Wharf, Union Street, Union Square, cable car side of SF. Thanks for the tour!
Mr. Peenee - Mutant is a common theme in the Mission.
m00nchild - He was in the alcove of a hotel on Post Street, the Andrews Hotel. I'd never seen him before either. But don't get fresh with him. I saw him first, so he's mine.
Reya - I feel the same when I'm in Union Square, like a tourist on a movie set. Though now they're shooting movies in the Mission too.
Oh, I love these pictures! I also love Barney's - they just opened a BIGGER one here in Seattle. MMM. I also love the Atlas Stair Building. I have passed it a few times on trips to SF.
JDZM - It's a bit embarrassing that SF is just getting Barneys and only recently got a Bloomingdales. I mean, what are we, Peoria? You may have passed me on the street and didn't know it if you saw the Atlas Stair building. Next time, let's got over there together, knock on the door, and find out what the hell is going on inside.
I know what happens in that castle building! ORGIES!
Wasn't What's New Pussycat filmed in that castle?
WAT - Well, I guess you'd know.
Bryce - Yes, the musical remake of it starring Bunter.
