Who'd Have Ever Guessed...

...that on a quiet residential street of South San Francisco, the self dubbed "industrial city" you'd find this place? In addition to publishing, banquet facilities, a restaurant and cultural center, they also organize handball games. Unfortunately, there don't seem to be that many fishermen hanging about, just a bit too far in from the bay to lug those little boats. And, of course, don't even get me started on the ETA.

WAT - Good grief, WAT, after so many visits here I thought you'd recognize joy when you saw it staring you in the face by now. The Basque are a tenacious, tough breed, by the way, and they don't go in for all those syrupy, toothy smiles. So I believe when in Bilbao (or South San Francisco)...

did you go to the 'basque thanksgiving' today at the cultural center? might of been the event to have pulled in the fisherman!

have you read mark kurlansky's "the basque history of the world"?

Kimy - I've not read it yet, but I'm about half way through his history of Salt. Salt, cod and the Basque -- all paths weave together and lead to the Pyrenees in my life.
