Interactive Monday Assignment (A Day Late)
Sorry for the delay, but it was a busy Monday.
We all heard about the big Oprah (or is it Oprah!) endorsement of Obama.
I ran into Oprah's friend Gayle at the Best Buy in Colma (cemetery capital of northern California) last night, and she said that Dinah Shore is also endorsing Obama. Apparently there is a huge push to get endorsements from other dead celebrities. Although dead people still can't legally vote (except in North Dakota and Mississippi), there is no law against them making endorsements.
Thus, here is your assignment. Who do you think these dead people would vote for if they were alive?
- Groucho Marx
- Karl Marx
- Eva Gabor
- Tammy Wynette
- Dora Hall
- Totie Fields
- Rudolph Nuryev
- Elvis
- Jackie Coogan
- Charo (Oops, even if she's not dead she can't vote in the U.S.)
- Thelma Ritter
- Papa John Creech
- John C. Holmes
- Roebuck Staples
- Arthur Treacher
- Wendy O Williams
- Wilfrid White-Hyde
- Barry Goldwater
- Jerry Falwell
- Amanda "Kitty" Blake
Labels: Barack Obama, dead celebrities, politics, television

All I can think is "Ava Gabor is dead??"
Oh man, Arthur Treacher's Fish 'n' Chips. That brings back memories. That artery-clogging fish was to die for.
My heart almost stopped when I glimpsed for a nanosecond that Charo was dead. Or maybe it was from the Arthur Treacher's Fried Fish Fiesta Platter I ate for breakfast.
As for whom either Charo or Arthur would vote for, my money would be on Obama on both counts.
Dan - Sorry to say that we lost Eva in 1995. I believe they found her with one of Arthur's jumbo seafood platters in her Jag.
Jill - Well, I'm not sure who Arthur would vote for, but I think he and Eva would both go with Merv's suggestion.
With that leading image I thought you'd have a question like "won't you blow?"
A friend claims Rudolph Nuryev as a confidant when he was alive. From all the stories I would say his vote would be for Edwards; as bed-mate
Dunno...but Tammy Wynette wouldn't be voting for Hillary, I'm pretty sure...
not with all that "Stand by Your Man" fracas back in the 90's
I thought of your assignment this morning on the rta and here's what I came up with:
at first I thought groucho might vote for rudy since they share a similar fondness for serial monogamy, but then I though no way groucho would vote for a republican, so I think maybe chris dodd - I don't know chris' marital history, but he's older than me and has little kids.
now karl would vote for dennis - all the way - to each, from each and all that good stuff.
eva gabor - don't ask me why I just figured she'd vote for joe biden
tammy - definitely hillary 'stand by your man' rodham clinton
dora hall - don't know who she is. sorry
totie fields and elvis definitely identify with some of huckabee's body issues so I'm thinking maybe and arkansas is close to graceland!
jackie coogan - dennis after all his nickname is dennis the menace - kid comic star
charo - bill richardson, any question
thelma ritter & nuryev - john edwards for very different reasons - I had the same thought as scot. if I was nuryev that's who I'd want as my bedmate.
papa john creech - who ever is running on the green party ticket
arthur treacher - the fish guy. shit no idea...
goldwater - mccain - gotta go with the hometown boy - and they do seem to share some world views
falwell - whoever is the most christian rightwing of the lot - seems to flip
sorry to say I don't know who roebuck, wendy, wilfred
kitty blake? is that the gunsmoke lady??? if so ron paul maybe....
Scot - I must admit I don't have wet dreams about John Edwards, but if I had to choose from the line up I'd probably agree with Rudy.
Jason - Fred Thompson may be from Tammy's state, but I think she'd prefer Hillary. Once the primaries are over I think Fred should consider playing Herman in the remake of The Munsters.
Kimy - Wow, I'm impressed. Have you been hanging out at Forest Lawn? Dora Hall is the wife of the Solo Cup CEO who released a number of vanity records in the 1960s and 1970s. Oh, I agree on Jackie "Fester" Coogan. I do like Mr. Kucinich's politics, but I must admit he sort of looks like a long lost member of the Addams tribe. Roebuck Staples was the father/bass player of the Staples Singers, as in Mavis Staples. You'll hear his distinctive bass on "I'll Take You There" and "Respect Yourself".
