ER - I'm not opposed to tagging overall, but I've put a limit of no more than two times a year. If you missed the two previous tag responses, they are here.
Just like humans to kill an animal that has been caged for a long time and suddenly snaps. How old was this tiger by the way? I briefly read the story that happened at the S.F. zoo.
WAT - Not sure here age. I'm opposed to zoos in general and understand why she'd likely lash out after being out of her habitat and being caged up. It's sad she killed someone, but nothing was gained by killing her.
Early on they emphasized how no one knew how the tiger got out. A story in the Chronicle today said they think one of the guys who wound up attacked may have dangled his arm or leg over the wall into the tigers' compound. It's possible the tiger snagged him and then used his leg to pull herself over the wall.
Mrpeenee - It's tragic any way you look at it -- for the kids, their families, the tiger. It's sad the cops had to resort to shooting the tiger, but it seems the blame ultimately falls on the zoo for having the tiger in cramped quarters, for not having better security and for not monitoring kids for taunting it if that's what they actually did.
All zoo animals have a choice. all they have to do is say "Let me go" in clear english and they are sent back into the wild. Tatiana didn't play by those rules.

JunkThief is your typical Gallic Jew boy born on the Great Plains, went to Gotham and Ouagadougou and Kathmandu before settling in San Francisco's Mission District. Now he searches the dark alleys of that city to find good conversation, Weimar culture and (but of course) the perfect door knob.

sad...all around.
Yeah, did they ever hear of tranquilizers?
Jason - Indeed. Cops are moving from shooting endangered human minorities to endangered felines.
WAT - That wouldn't be a bad idea for them with humans as well.
The tiger was four years old.

Awful, sad story. I kept thinking of Dumbo's mama locked away in that little cage. :(
Poor kitty.

You know, know, know that this whole thing is suspicious! Hey - happy new year! I'm FINALLY back at the whole blogging thing.
Salty - Sad all around.
Gavin - Tatiana and then Ms. Bhutto. Not a good week for fierce and proud Asian females.
JDZS - Welcome back. Yes, the Keystone Kops are alive and well in San Francisco.
