You show Jean Seberg without comment. I believe Jean Seberg, because of her support of the Black Panthers, was murdered by the FBI. People laugh when I say that, partly because they think Seberg too trivial a person for such a horrible fate, or for such a connection to radical forces. I don't see Seberg as trivial and so I see their dismissal of her as a double tragedy. She was perhaps too good when cast in the role of the "trivial American." Thanks for the video hook-up.
Jim - There are many who question her "suicide"/overdose which didn't make sense, but it's also hard to believe that in 1979 under Carter the FBI would target her. But I would put nothing past the FBI. Regardless, she was not trivial if only for her roles in "Breathless" and "Saint Joan". Her role in "Paint Your Wagon" is also a guilty pleasure. It's a train wreck of a movie on many levels, but she is wonderful in it all the same.
Location: San Francisco, California, United States
JunkThief is your typical Gallic Jew boy born on the Great Plains, went to Gotham and Ouagadougou and Kathmandu before settling in San Francisco's Mission District. Now he searches the dark alleys of that city to find good conversation, Weimar culture and (but of course) the perfect door knob.
