Interactive Thursday - Worst Name
Tugboat Dave down in New Orleans was suggesting the other day that this was the worst name for a restaurant anywhere. I say, Fuku. Not you, Dave, the restaurant. Well, you can guess the proper way to pronounce it. It's in J-town here in SF. Actually, not bad sushi.
Yes, I know we're totally off schedule, but perhaps readers can suggest their local variant
on the worst named restaurant. Sorry, Popeye's and KFC don't count.

Chi Chi's Pizza.
I just think... boobs with extra cheese.
Gavin - Or two for the price of one...
Pupusa is not just the Salvadoran delicious meat/cheese-flled tortilla thingy.
It can also mean a woman's private area in vulgar talk amongst Salvadorans you know?
And so one time my mom and I drove by this restaurant called EL PUPUSON. THE BIG GIANT PUPUSA is the translation. And my mother said it was just crude.
LMAO!
WAT - We see quite a few pupusons in the Mission.
Hung Far Low, which claims to be the oldest Chinese restaurant in Portland, is too obvious, but it'll do.
I've always wondered if there was absolutely no joke involved in the name, and the Hung family has always wondered what the hell their customers found so amusing.
Close runner-up: The House of Louie!
Rich - I've actually been to the House of Louie and have always been intrigued by Hung Far Low.
hard to top fuku! although I can't come up with restaurant that will top this, I can offer restaurants with really bad food! we have a local eatery with a name that makes me crack up whenever i see it, in fact, I took a picture their sign a few weeks ago with intentions of doing a post on it's name, but you will have to just check the mouse in april for the pic and the story to appear! (march is not the right month for the pic)
achoo - fuku - bless you
Mouse - Oddly I was in Japantown for the third time this week. No Fuku this time, but... Oh, you're teasing me to peek at your site in April!
Good Ho Restaurant in D.C. is on
14th Street which had traditionally been synonymous with prostitution.
Mike - That sounds like a place for wayward governors to hang out at.
There used to be a Vietnemeese place in Monteray Park called "Pho Kym". I suspect she got the restaurant in a divorce settlement.
Scot - And I wonder what he got out of the deal?
Going against stereotypes, there is indeed a Big Wong in Manhattan's Chinatown.
huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhh...
I'm BACK, (baby)!
Jill - Yeah, welcome back. There's been plenty of sugar and spice around this blog but not enough Salt(y). Shake 'er up and let it pour!
