In Praise of History
Something about New York history always brings me comfort when I am on a long work-related trip. Thus I am reading Edith Wharton's lovely Old New York, four novellas covering the mid-19th century, and listening to back episodes of the Bowery Boys podcasts. If you've never visited the boys' (Tom and Greg) blog, they have some great gems on it, and their podcasts are on iTunes. They are very cute and endearing in a bookish, history nerd way. I should look them up when back in Manhattan.

I love the "Zombie" art in the picture.
Gavin - I'd really not noticed it earlier, maybe because Tom and Greg are kind of cute. But it's great art.
Wow. How did the Bowery Boys get seats on the UN Security council or is that in the original charter?
Bryce - I think the Bowery Boys would be superb reps for the U.S. and U.K. at the U.N. They have a far better grip on the issues than the usual fools appointed.
so where is your 'long work-related trip'....and when are you coming to cleveland speaking of work related trips!
I'll be in nyc august 14 -17...and if there's a grand convergence later this fall perhaps then also!
Great site, this is...I'd also be interested in ahving an audience with them.
Mouse and Salty - NYC is set for the weekend of September 26-28. We should treat the Bowery Boys to dinner or something. I am sure we would learn a great deal.
I'm marking my calendar and crossing my fingers that there will be no unexpected family (health) emergencies.... we're got some stressful situations going on with a couple of my very close family members unfortunately...so send up good health and good energy vibes....
They got a good blog there on NYC. I ain't ever been there! WEST COAST all the way here.
Mouse - I'm sending out good karma in hopes you make it.
WAT - Mark your calendar. I'd love to be your Manhattan guide for your virgin tour of the wicked east.
