Yes We Can $19.95
Sometimes I wonder if the President could sue jerks for mis-use of his image. There was an odd side of me that came close to buying a $12 Obama plate at Walgreens the other evening before reason returned. This, however, is really disturbing yet also encouraging that some of the Franklin Mint crowd want these. Though, I wonder, if Ben's descendents have ever considered suing these jerks for co-opting of his name

I wonder what the actual legal rules are over use of the Pres's image and name.
However, this is something my granny would have bought me during my nerdy coin-collecting pre-adolescence.
I actually still have somewhere a genuine-gold-plated commemorative coin issued for the wedding of Charles & Diana. Maybe I should call Antiques Road Show?
Joe - What, you grew up in the U.K.? Or you're from Jersey not New Jersey.
my father wanted to buy be a set of obama commemorative coins when I was down visiting, I turned him down.
my head was reeling of the amount of obamaware on the streets of dc..... that junk alone should be able to float the economy, however, I expect most of it was manufactured in china....my sister who lives in zambia said she saw african fabric in the market with obama's head on it... she said unfortunately when she went back to buy some it was gone
Mouse - I love the commemorative fabrics they do in Africa. When I was with a friend in Burkina Faso, the Pope was visiting. For about $10 she bought the fabric and had it made into a pantsuit. She was quite proud of her Pope Pants.
I was watching a program on TV that said what a huge business the Obama business is, from bobble heads to t-shirts. At least someone is making money.
