Obscure Moments in Presidential History

Here we witness a very ugly scene at the 1959 White House New Year's party a few martinis into the evening. After several drinks, Edith Head grew weary from hearing about her "Mamie bangs". She finally lashed out to clarify that her hairstyle had nothing to do with the First Lady and then unleashed an assault on her fashion sense or the lack there of. This then went further down the rabbit hole as a toddling Edith made several crude jokes about Ike, Mamie and "banging". Ike then came to his wife's defense and is seen here in a shot that exhibits his previously concealed "diminutive" stature next to a stalwart Ms. Head.

No, We Weren't Consulted on the Name

When the story appeared on last night's news broadcast, the resident basenji princess perked up when she heard her name said several times in less than a minute. The White House dog, for the record, spells his name Bo and is male. The first lady of the house is fairly unimpressed so far, but she wants it to go on the record that she had her name for six years before this canine came on the scene.

Barney Goes Rogue

After a couple of weeks of crying, mourning and generally feeling depressed about the sad end for a sweet but aggressive dog, I can actually laugh at this. Another reason I prefer sight hounds over terriers.
