Booked
Yipee yi yo yeah! (Though that's not the language I'll need to be honing in the weeks ahead.) It's finally official. Today I booked the ticket for the first week of November to this place. I've not been there since I was a wee thing, and it was technically the only Fascist country that I've ever visited (unless you count Singapore and Texas). I won't have my parents and sister in tow this time, and they have a lot more freedom these days too. (I'm also planning a smaller trip for a few days the last week of September to LA which should be fun but not quite as momentous as the November adventure.) Oh, I can't wait to lisp as mi corazon is stolen away!

Jeez that last picture... what size batteries does that thing take?
Wow. Can I tag along? I've been so itching to go back to BCN after my first and only visit there in 2003.
Where are you staying?
I think it's the best city in the world, no exaggeration. I would live there in a minute.
Below is a link (if it works) to some pics I took last time:
BCN pix
Gavin - I think it takes at least 6 D batteries. I probably won't try it until later in my trip.
Kusala - Everyone I talk to agrees with you. Yes, tag along, especially if your Spanish and Catalan are better than mine. Great photos! As if I needed something to get me more excited about going. This certainly will be more fun than Illinois and Texas.
Are you coming to LA for my birthday? Fittingly enough, it's Labor Day.
And I have a picture that looks like the first photo. Well, maybe it looks more like Fiddler On The Roof.
You could also pass for a Greek dancer, Scot. What's the story on that photo?
Actually I'll be in LA during MY birthday (September 26), so you can shower me with gifts if you are so inclined.
I love the Blue Penis monument -- and it's uncircumcized!
My Spanish is awful (And I have a minor in it to boot!) but I want to go so badly! Mi corazon, indeed!
¡Cómo te envidio! Te vas a España. La madre patria. Do you just buy a plane ticket and hotel or how do ya do it?
Screw it. Let's all quit our jobs and get an apartment there. Who's in?
Works for me, Jill. Hell, I'll wash dishes illegally in the Barri Gòtic or whatever it takes. However, as soon as I find a Spanish husband, y'all are on your own.
Blue - Indeed, a reason to go, besides the...uh...culture thing...
Eric - Yeah, my Spanish is pretty pathetic too. They do say cut Spanish in half and you have Catalan, so I should do fine. I'm also great with using my hands and mouth to indicate what I want when in a pinch.
WAT - Since I've yet to find the papi to serve as my benefactor I went the old-fashioned route of buying tickets and making a reservation.
Salty - What makes you think I have a return ticket?
Kusala - Oh, that's entered my mind too. Italy's a second option were it not for that whole papal thing.
Oh yeah! Now THAT'S my kind of building!
