e and I went to barcelona in march....and I will be counting on your behalf! incredible place!!
kermie lives!
yes, serious threat that you may not come back. seductively BEAUTIFUL place and beautiful people.
however watch out for gypsy cons and pick pockets! we fared okay, but wasn't off the bus from the airport but 10 minutes and I had to thrwart one of the pickpockets trying to get the bills out of my wallet.
Mmm, I'm all over the pied-a-terre/timeshare idea.
Recommendations: For me, so much was about the eating. You must go to the restaurant 'Set Portes'. I also really liked 'Quinze Nits' in the Plaça Reial and an awesome little hole in the wall called 'Romesco'. Others may deride this as cheesy, and I'm not sure where you stand, but the red & blue line tourist buses that circle the city are really an excellent way to see a lot. Also, you should stop into the shop 'Vinçon' for fun while you're walking up Paseo de Gracia, which is a great walking district aside from Las Ramblas.
I've gotta get back there (it was exactly 4 years ago this month... waaaah!).
Kusala - Thanks for those tips. Between my coworker Joaquin and my blog commenters, my itinerary gets fuller every day. Any preferences on where I find our pied-a-terre? Eixample? Barri Gotic? Quadrat d'Or? Oooh, I just get excited typing those names and knowing they'll soon be real not just the stuff of fantasy!
later the thought entered my head that my remark of warning may have been seen as a slam against gypsies - which of course I am aghast over! 1000 lashes with a wet noodle!
I certainly would not want to contribute to the forces of oppression, persecution, and prejudice the romani! oy vay.
I'm sure I was just a potential victim of a pickpocket who was dressing 'a part' ..... I should have said beware of women in long skirts trying to 'give' you a flower and then asking for a donation of a penny!
Location: San Francisco, California, United States
JunkThief is your typical Gallic Jew boy born on the Great Plains, went to Gotham and Ouagadougou and Kathmandu before settling in San Francisco's Mission District. Now he searches the dark alleys of that city to find good conversation, Weimar culture and (but of course) the perfect door knob.

I guarantee you will have an amazing trip. And even if you don't, tell us all that you did.

Dave - Danke, mein Herr.
Kusala - You look good in green. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Did I mention it's a one-way ticket? (In my dreams.)
Jason - Yes, I know it will be hard to be excited about it after Oklahoma, but I'll try.
Joe - Wow, both Joes are turning green.

Yes! I am indeed excited for you.
I believe I stood at the very spot in Parc Guell where that photo was taken, back in late June.
Why don't you investigate pied-a-terres for you, Kusala, and I when you're there?
Kimy - I'm not overly concerned about they gypsies. I was actually planning to hang out with them and see if we can add some tramps to our band.
Jill - I'll be on the lookout for a triplex for us.

I'll take a pied-a-terre just about anywhere.... they've got a Metro.
Are you getting outside the city at all? Sitges?
