What's Been Burning in My Disco Kitchen

From time to time Junk Thief will compile some tunes from his stash of rarities -- so rare K-Tel has never even heard of them -- and shares them with his inner circle. He'd hoped to have his latest epic eight-disc extravaganza DJ'd by the legendary Vivian Valvoom (a real person, though that's not his real name) before Christmas, but he's cutting it close. This one is just about finished (expect yours just in time to warm up those drab and chilly Ogreville New Year's bashes Ms. Jill). Since Junk Thief doesn't know just who would be interested, drop him a line and your address if you'd like a copy. No throbbing techno or electro beats here. Expect sassy Linda Clifford proto-femisist struts, Philly dance beats, Taka Boom (To Hell With Him, anyone?) Vicki Sue Robinson, Undisputed Truth, France Joli, Melba Moore and a lot of the symphonic cheese of the likes of Alec R. Costandinos. And absolutely zero Madonna or Diana Ross. Oh, and two, count 'em two, songs from gay porn/Edge of Night star Dennis Parker.

sounds pretty irresistible - even if there's no madonna (did you here she will be inducted into the hall of fame in march, much to junk thief's chagrin) ..thank goodness melba and eagle man are included -- but wait is there any phranc??

Kimy - Oh, my golly, you got the "Fly Like an Eagle"/Dennis Parker reference. Are you a 40+ gay many in disguise? I bet even less than 2% of them would catch that. I totally dig Phranc, but she's for my Tupperware/lesbian folk album for Boxing Day. For all her butch posturing, she's incredibly touching and gentle when she wants to be.

nah, don't have the necessary apparatus. however, I do subscribe to a kind of cross between margaret mead and adrienne rich's views regarding human sexuality.

I need to see what phranc is up to these days - have kind have lost touch with her muse/ic since moving to the north coast.

I only have had the good fortune of seeing phranc in concert once - and that was many moons ago - her sweetness and gentleness shone through. your mention of butch posturing reminds me of a picture I will have to email you - that is if I can find it in my computer's photo archives...you may enjoy it and suggest something fun....

I read somethere that Phranc is the 1# Tupperware salesperson on the planet, and that, for a small price, she will come to your house and do a demonstration.
She is the one lesbian folksinger I can tolerate aznd-dare I say-enjoy!
