We're Moving

With the impending fifth anniversary of this blog, it has seemed in order to update, upgrade and move.

This site will not be completely shut down in the short term, and there may be parallel posts for a while, but the new "official" blog is going to be:

Sepia Saturday: Hey Everybody...

...it's baby Junk Thief. Taken sometime in early 1957. Clearly already enamored by the lure of studio lights, cameras and building a fan base. And a blond.

(And the other Sepia Saturday entries are here.)

Let's Just Start Back at Zero

"Mr. Sullivan?"

"Mr. Junk Thief?"

"Where are you?"

"Where are you?"

"Steuben's at 17th and Pearl. Amazing flats across the street. I think you'd be impressed."

"Will you come pick me up?"

"Yes, just tell me where you are."

"You won't scold me."

"No, Mrs. Sullivan, just tell me where you are. I love Denver, but let's go home."

NEWS ALERT: Our Executive Committee Is Saved!

Whew. Just after the break of dawn, things worked out for the best for the frightening hostage situation in Orange County. After many unsuccessful attempts by the police, ATF, CIA, fire department and Jan Crouch to rescue our executive committee, things took a sudden turn for the better.

As luck would have it, the Junk Thief advisory committee was at a surfing and spiritual retreat in Laguna Beach and got wind of the hostage situation in Santa Ana. All that ginger tea and meditation gave them super dragon slaying skills and they came in to save the day at the last minute.

They did not kill the dragon but are giving him appropriate punishment by sending him to Las Vegas where he will be forced to attend performances of Cirque du Soleil until 2013. Bad dragon!

NEWS ALERT: Big Trouble in Orange County!!!!

In case you've not been following the live feeds on all the major news outlets, things have gone terribly wrong for the Junk Thief board of directors. Shortly after their non-stop flight from San Francisco to Paris lifted off, it was HIJACKED and landed at John Wayne/Orange County.

Our executive committee is being held hostage by a fire breathing dragon in the parking lot of a shopping center in Santa Ana. Oh, dear. This doesn't look good.

Stay tuned...

Junk Thief Board of Directors Retreat Concludes

This was the scene this afternoon as our board of directors headed down to San Bruno to catch flights and to deal with tighter security screenings. They demonstrated a very effective technique to full body scans: "Wah! No, I don't want a body scan!"
Here we see our Board Chair (left), Vice Chair (right) and treasurer (center). As you can tell, our board of directors adhere to a very rigid hierarchical structure.
Sadly, our two newest board of directors members arrived just as the others departed due to weather related flight delays. We think they have a lot to add, and we had a great discussion over dried salmon. Here are Tilly the Thunder kitten (left) and Billy the Blunder Cat, niece and first cousin respectively of our founding board of director member Miss Millie the Glass Eyed Wonder Cat.

An Update on Our Board of Directors Retreat

After last night's ugly little brawl (lesson learned: kewpies can't handle more than two martinis well), all is back on track. After a big breakfast, they have spent the day mounting a musical version of Antigone with an Afro-beat score. (Think Fela, but with a more ancient Greek theme.)

Be sure to "embiggen" the photo to see the full scale of the set. We thought the cows and Ganesh were interesting additions to Sophocles' original stage directions. (However, he does call for pine trees and Japanese space monsters.)

There Appears to Be a Problem

Oh, dear. Our board of directors appears to have reached an impasse on a very touchy agenda item. Quick, can someone recommend a good mediator?

In Blogger News

The Junk Thief Board of Directors met this afternoon to look at their 10-year strategic plan and outline benchmarks for the teens. Much saki was consumed, and then they spread out on their nap mats.

What do you think is happening in today's tableaux? (Use a second sheet if needed.)

We suggest that you embiggen the image. It's kinda special

JunkThief Has Moved

Yesterday the very expensive and surly plumbers completed an important project -- taking out a useless utility sink where the dishwasher and washer upstairs have backed up into for the past couple of years. Problem solved, sink gone, and that prime piece garden view real estate is now my second office here at the Junkplex. Yes, I know that sounds a bit extravagant, but I think it's important to keep my paid work space and play work space separate since I use both under the same roof.

Miss Millie dropped in as you can see, to inaugurate this new space and give it her blessing. I was really pleased to get the green hipster chair on hip Valencia Street at the hip interior store Therapy. I was honored that the cute hipster young women who waited on me took such an interest in wanting to know where I would use the chair. They probably thought I was buying it for my grandson's dorm room.
And most amusing is that instead of just walking in from the dining room, Bow enjoys watching me from across the back terrace. I think she's trying to figure out if I am surfing some inappropriate websites.

The Appropriate Gifts 'In This Economy'

Last year, we shared this holiday classic as evidence that Christmas is not about consumerism, but the spirit of junk thievery repurposing.

So now we offer another favorite below. Casper was the one cartoon character that makes Tinky Winky, Snaggle Puss and Barney look butch by comparison. Even as a kiddo, I was never sure if people reacted sharply to Casper because he was a ghost or because he was so...uh, friendly. No childhood character merits as much Freudian re-examination as Casper. I blame him for how my life went on such a path.

Our Guest Editor Is Seeking Inspiration

Now that her foster-daddy has finished his flooring project, rests and makes social engagements, Miss Bow is taking on the role of this blog's foster-editor. She's working on some ideas...after she finishes her Pupperoons.

Show Me Yours, I'll Show You Mine

Following the lead of Tugboat Dave's photo challenge I am posting a shot of my work space. I think we've done this before, but feel free to chime in again. Is it just me, or does it appear that Dave and I have the same wall color? This has served as both my real work and play work office, but I am about to launch a new play work site in my utility room. Also, that's my work not Junk Thief computer.
