Year Two Officially Begins

It was a year ago today that with this post, Junk Thief, the blog, made its debut. (Junk Thief TV would arrive three and a half months later). We've no plans to launch any other subsidiaries, though an occasional podcast is not out of the question.

This has been a fun first year, a chance to share tales with old friends, make a few new ones and a few surprises along the way. This also would have been the 59th wedding anniversary, so I will celebrate that along with this birthday.

Give me a couple more years, and there might actually be something interesting here. Remember, I'm still a wee one in blog years.
UPDATE: A sweet little tribute by Gavin Elster over here with this great piece of art that, in the spirit of junk thievery, I stole and pasted. Thanks, Gavin!

Jill - Thanks for lovely song.

Dave - Uh, I know Junk Thief's a pretty big deal, but that birthday with the guiding star, wise men and all those fir trees being murdered was another dude's big day. Thanks for the thought though.

And going strong... I like the use of the Watts Towers in the premier post; very applicable given that he had neighborhood kids collecting 7up bottles for him to build with. They're rather cool in person.

Scot - Yep, that was the idea of using the image and the reminder that when you pile it correctly junk can be art. Yet to be determined in my case. I've never seen them live. My mom always so "Oh, but good people don't go to that part of town." Well, now that my mom finally found out that I'm not a good boy 100% of the time I can finally go there.

Your blog birthday is also my anniversary. Next year we'll have to plan something huge.

Happy birthday! Keep up the excellent work.

BTW, Gary (of Follow Your Bliss) is not only wonderful but he is a babe, too. Seriously.

Emily - Hey, maybe I'm not your adopted uncle but your adopted twin brother! In real life, I actually have an aunt and a second cousin wh share my real birthday (September 26).

Reya - Thanks, and I wish we could lure you out of retirement but hope to catch your new presence on the net. Honestly, your musings coupled with abstract photos have inspired me to do the same.

Well, based on his blog presence, I'd agree that Gary is incredibly sweet, bright and a major babe.

Gregg - Happy Birthday! You have been posting so often lately that I can hardly keep up (but of course I shall). You have quite a wonderful 'baby' here and I look forward to watching it grow.

Hey, I feel privledged to rate on the comment portion of this post. :) Thanks for you support. BTW - Reya is a babe too!

Eva - Well, if Joan Jett hadn't won your heart, I might get down on my knees and give you a ring!

Gary - Nothing but babes visit this site, I tell you. If Reya is half as fetching in person as she is in that cartoon image, she has earned her babe status.
