Keeping Clean on the Road

I'm just back from Vashon and very tired. I'll have some breaks tomorrow for actually taking photos, but I thought you'd like the scenic view along the morning walk from my hotel. It's crisp, clear and clean in Seattle. Much more cheerful than wet and dreary San Francisco. "Hate California; it's cold and it's damp..."

There's a 'li'l' version of that carwash in the best-forgotten, bedroom-community-for-Tacoma, nearby town of Puyallup.

It's called The Li'l Elephant, and now you don't need to go see it for yourself.

But you should go to Ballard. It's a great neighborhood.

Rich - "Keep Ballard Weird". Yes, I know that 'hood well. A good friend lived there for several years and worked, fittingly for the featured photo, as an elephant keeper at the zoo.

I always struggle to not pronounce Puyallup as Pull-y'all-up.

Well, during my four years in Olympia, I learned that the only way one should not pronounce Puyallup is the way it is spelled.

Pew-all-up is acceptable, as is Pee-all-up and Pwall-up. Just not Poo-yall-up. Maddening. But Washington's like that.

When I lived Seattle after living in SF for a while I really missed SF. When I moved back to SF, I really missed Seattle.

Fortunately I miss London more than both combined -- so I'll focus on that longing for now.

Until I start to think about how much I miss New York.

Glad you had a nice trip LdB

m00nchild - You summed up how I feel about the two cities. I find Europe luring more and more these days, weak as the dollar may be. I've always felt living in London would be "cheating" since I feel I should improve my language skills, but then living there might finally make me fluent in English.

Bryce - As Bobby Sherman once sang, "The bluest skies you've ever seen in Seattle/And the hills the greenest green in Seattle..."
