Torn
I'm really in a dilemma trying to decide how to spend my weekend. Ashford and Simpson are playing at the Razz Room of the Nikko Hotel the same night Minnie Riperton is appearing at the Fox Theater on Market Street. Why do all the good acts come to town the same weekend?
Reports are out that Minnie blew them away at Jazzfest in New Orleans. I'm glad she's finally getting the respect she deserves.
My favorite Ashford and Simpson tune is their instrumental "Bourgie, Bourgie". My favorite tune of Minnie's is "Memory Lane". Enjoy and say hi if you see me in my box seat at the Fox.

Oh that is a dilemma! But Mark tells me that Minnie Riperton died in 1979 so that should make the decision a little easier. Just sayin'
Gary - Shh...don't break the news just yet.
LOL
Gary - OMG! I just called the number for the Fox's box office, and it's been disconnected. This isn't looking good. I hope I can get my $350 back from Ticket Masters.
Maybe they will give you a credit to see the sold out Florence Ballard performance the following weekend. We'll keep our fingers crossed.
Gary - I think Florence Ballard is touring with Florence Lawrence are touring this year with dates in Branson, Reno and Atlantic City.
Okay, You win! I had to look that one up. Can you imagine if we took this show on the road, live and in person? There would be no stopping us paley! Throw Joy and Mark into the mix and we are talking headlining the Orpheum Circuit!
I had a dream...
Gary - Sounds like quite an act. Suddenly this post's comments feel like a chat room. Have a good night.
Ashford and Simpson. I just love their hit "Reunited." Remember? "So excited, reunited, yeah, yeah. That, seriously, is one of my favorite songs.
Bryce - That's a good one, but I also think "Where Is the Love?" is their best.
I thought Reunited was Peaches & Herb, you know, "Shake Your Groove Thing". "Solid" was pretty solid Ashford & Simpson hit though.
Mark - There's a vicious head game going on here between Bryce and me on these references. Yes, I think we both know who recorded both of those tunes -- not Ashford and Simpson.
By the way, the Fox Theater on Market was demolished in 1963. I called Fox headquarters demanding my ticket money refunded, and they're sending me a six DVD set of "The Best of the O'Reilly Factor". (Grin, wink.)
